The activity of a radioactive source – the number of nuclear decays per unit time – is stated in becquerel (Bq), the SI unit, as well as megabecquerel (MBq) and gigabecquerel (GBq). The older unit curie (Ci) is still commonly used, especially in nuclear medicine.
